Although my time in Christchurch was only for a short period of time, I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great people. Unfortunately everyone that I have met here at the Ilam Apartments were mostly international students - meaning they all are urged to leave campus as I was. Most chose to take their education elsewhere (mainly Auckland, Wellington or Dunedin) where others like some of the great friends that I've made so far have chosen to take the rest of the semester off with no classes or education whatsoever. This means they will have the next 3-5 months to travel around New Zealand, with nothing more than the deadline on their passport in terms of any tangible timetable. Jealous as I am, I can't afford to take an entire semester "off" as it were just so that I could enjoy myself to the fullest extent while I'm here. That is why Wellington is the new place for me. As for my room-mates, one of which is an RA, they were truly spectacular people. My RA, Dhamendra, gave me so much advice on everything New Zealand and was an absolute great guy to be around and converse with. Not to mention he made me a fair well dinner tonight and I can only say that his curry was the first and best curry I've ever had - sold me on Indian food for sure! I'll miss them all greatly.
So now I'm on yet another journey. A journey to a new school, new classes, meeting new people, seeing new things, getting accommodated hopefully for the last time to a new city and environment. Wish me luck on safe travels as my shuttle comes to pick me up at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning with another 7 a.m. flight. Tomorrow will be nothing short of a very long day, as you can imagine, filled with flying to a new city (new island for that matter), new university, then moving in, choosing classes, and shopping for groceries. I know of 5 Drake students currently residing in Wellington so hopefully I'll find them, making the transition all a little easier.
