American Revolution - British Perspective

Today in History 118, our professor briefly discussed the American revolution during his lecture covering the British Revolution or 'Glorious Revolution' after 1697, or The Nine Years War. It was odd to hear it from someone who is obviously from England and has been brought up studying European teachings because his view of the American Revolution was obviously a loss, rather than a win. He said that the only reason the British lost America was because they temporarily lost control of the seas because the French blocked in Cornwallis' army. That is absolutely true but the way he said it and what you could pick out in his voice was almost bitter sounding. It was just different to hear because I have always been brought up from an American perspective and it was finally good to hear the opposing side.
