MISERABLE

Sorry to all my loyal readers out there but getting settled in here to Christchurch, New Zealand has been a little less that smooth sailing. But first some good news - the Ilam Apartments are great and are full of international students that I can't wait on meeting...that's about the only good thing I can remember from day 1. Otherwise I had some serious computer issues that have taken 3 days to work out. Long story short - the apartments here don't operate with free wi-fi...ya. So its a pay as you go type system where you purchase GB's of data for a price - mine was 20GB's for $65. Not terrible but an unexpected expense nonetheless. Anyway as I set up the package with my internet service, it won't stay connected for more than a minute or so. Just what I needed moving into a foreign environment not knowing where anything is or knowing anyone I can't even do a simple internet login. In the end I had to upgrade my software from Window's Vista to Windows 7 Pro - only about $142 of yet another unexpected expense. Its ok now though that I finally have dependable internet and Windows 7 is working marvellously.
