Oriental Bay

A couple guys from America are staying with us in our flat for the next couple days. Both are studying engineering and traveling around New Zealand for the next month over their summer breaks. We decided to jump into Oriental Bay today, basically Wellington's main bay and shipping port. They have a plank and ladder all set up so that once you get into the extremely frosty salt water you can hop right out. Being 'Windy Welly' also doesn't help any cuz once we get out of the water the wind makes sure we know just how cold and foolish jumping into cold water can be. Nevertheless it was a great time - I got three jumps in, a couple of dives and a back flip. As always we Americans know how to be loud and obnoxious so we drew quite the crowd jumping into the water at the beginning of winter. Surprisingly, one of the guys watching was Eric Stanton, one of my fraternity brothers from Drake Sig Ep, who had been studying abroad in Australia and came to New Zealand for a week!! How crazy is that! As we caught up he told me that before he saw me he was saying 'these guys are a bunch of idiots - their gonna catch pneumonia'. Thanks for all the support buddy - haha just kidding. Oh well, we had fun and felt refreshed afterwards.
