8.9

The largest recorded earthquake since 1995 hit today, roughly an hour and a half ago or around 2:30pm in Sendin, Japan. This is the fifth largest earthquake recorded since the year 1900!! Videos are all over the news showing tsunami warnings to over 20 countries - including Russia, Central American countries and yes, Australia and New Zealand. These natural disasters are absolutely ridiculous right now. The waves that were hitting Japan were at least 10 meters high - with more waves spanning the oceans until they reach another body of land. Make no mistake about it tsunami waves don't stop in oceans. As I recall from the last Tsunami that hit Thailand and Indonesia back in 2003, or 2004, waves hit all across the world, in various degrees of course but none the less still had impacts far away from the initial quake's location. Shere devastation seems to have hit Japan, and we can only wait and see to know how badly this ends up being - but it doesn't look good at all at this point.
